DP World has officially opened the Sokhna Logistics Park, a key step in enhancing Egypt’s role as a regional and global trade hub. This project is developed in partnership with British International Investment (BII), the U.K.’s development finance institution and impact investor.
Nestled within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE), the park underscores DP World’s enduring commitment to enhancing Egypt’s trade infrastructure.
The inauguration was attended by His Excellency the Prime Minister of Egypt, Mostafa Madbouly, along with His Excellency Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, deputy prime minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Transport and Industry; His Excellency Engineer Mohamed El-Sheemy, minister of Public Business Sector; Her Excellency Dr. Manal Awad, minister of Local Development and acting minister of Environment; and Mr. Waleid Gamal El-Din, chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE). The event also saw the presence of His Excellency Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, group chairman and CEO of DP World, alongside H.E. Hamad Al Zaabi, ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Egypt, Eng. Khaled Abbas, chairman and managing director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development (ACUD), and Mr. Ahmed Omowi, head of the Customs Authority, as well as a distinguished assembly of government officials, global corporations, and private sector representatives.
DP World is committing $85 million to the development of the Sokhna Logistics Park, which will unfold in two phases. The first phase is already operational, while the second phase is slated for launch in Quarter 3 of 2026, expanding the total area of the park to nearly 300,000 square meters.
This initiative is set to generate over 150 jobs in phase one, with that number projected to exceed 300 upon full completion.
Strategically situated just 15 minutes from Sokhna Port, 30 minutes from Suez, and 45 minutes from the New Administrative Capital, the park boasts unparalleled connectivity and benefits from tax and customs exemptions, along with streamlined trade procedures. There is robust business interest, with 90 customers in the pipeline and several contracts already finalized.
The Chairman also revealed that DP World has commenced construction of a new cold storage facility in 6th of October City. This 16,000m² cold storage facility is being developed with a $29 million investment, enhancing Egypt’s cold chain capacity and addressing the growing demand for energy-efficient storage. Connected to the logistics park, it is designed to bolster the country’s cold chain capabilities and meet the increasing need for energy-efficient, temperature-controlled storage.
Since 2008, DP World has played a pivotal role in supporting Egypt’s trade growth, having invested over $1.3 billion to expand capacity, modernize Sokhna Port, and connect it to global supply chains, all while fostering a sustainable logistics ecosystem with integrated services such as third-party logistics and freight forwarding, delivering seamless and efficient supply chain solutions to customers.
